Supply Chain Consultant

Reporting To: COOPosition Overview:As a Supply Chain Consultant, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to clients in optimising their supply chain processes. Your role will involve analysing data, and developing solutions as per customer briefs and terms of reference. Your pragmatic and practical approach to problem-solving and customer engagement will be crucial to the development of the team's continued successKey Responsibilities:Client Engagement• Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and challenges.• Conduct thorough assessments of existing data, supply chain processes and systems.• Collaborate with clients to define project objectives and deliverables.Analysis and Strategy• Analyse data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and to answer the client's scope of work.• Support the development of comprehensive supply chain solutions tailored to clients' specific requirements.• Provide insights and recommendations for process optimisation and cost reduction.Solutions Design• Provide input into practical and pragmatic solutions to meet customer requirements• Design and implement customised supply chain solutions using the appropriate tools and techniques.• Understand and utilise new technologies and tools.• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful implementation.Team Collaboration• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, systems, and other consultants, to ensure seamless project execution.• Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices within the consulting team.Supply Chain Diagnostic & Solutions• Conduct thorough diagnostics of clients' existing supply chain processes and identify areas for improvement.• Help propose and implement effective solutions to address identified supply chain challenges.Measures of Success• Demonstrable client outcomes (cost, service, flow, resilience, capability uplift)• Client confidence and repeat engagement• Quality and clarity of deliverables• On-time, on-scope delivery• Contribution to a scalable consulting modelExperience• Proven experience in supply chain, operations, or logistics roles within complex environments• Experience delivering supply chain improvement or transformation initiatives• Exposure to consulting, advisory, or change programmes (internal or external)• Experience working with senior operational and commercial stakeholders• Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain dynamicsQualifications• Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related discipline desirable• Professional qualification desirable (e.g. CIPS, CILT, APICS/ASCM, Lean/Six Sigma)• Ongoing professional development expectedPerson Specification Supply Chain Expertise: Essential Strong end-to-end supply chain knowledge (planning, logistics, inventory, suppliers) Desirable Sector specialism (e.g. manufacturing, retail, logistics, FMCG) Consulting Delivery: Essential Ability to structure problems, analyse data, and deliver clear recommendations Desirable Prior management consultancy experience Commercial Acumen: Essential Understands cost drivers, margin pressure, and value creation Desirable Experience supporting investment, turnaround, or growth scenariosStakeholder Confidence: Essential Credible with senior leaders; able to challenge constructively Desirable Board or investor-facing exposureAnalytical Capability: Essential Strong data interpretation and insight generation Desirable Advanced modelling or systems exposureCommunication: Essential Clear, concise, and outcome-focused communicator Desirable Workshop facilitation and executive storytellingChange & Implementation: Essential Pragmatic, implementation-minded approach Desirable Formal change or transformation experienceProfessional Judgement Essential: Operates with integrity, discretion, and realism Desirable Experience in regulated or high-risk environmentsPersonal Impact: Essential Calm under pressure, delivery-driven, commercially grounded.
