We partnered with a UK manufacturer to provide an objective view of current warehouse operations
A UK manufacturer needed an objective view of their current warehouse operations, the solution design, and analysis of growth plans & capabilities to understand the profile of future operations at a facility. This included:
- Strategic insight
- Site capability and automation assessment
- Analyse automation scenarios associated with adopting hybrid/full automation
The impact in action
£10.9m saving from hybrid automation scenario, over a 13-year time horizon
Dynamic and usable model to apply future volumetrics to determine resourcing and operating requirements
Full analysis report to support the decision of this project to move to a hybrid automated operation
Insights into how workload planning can stop breaches in areas such as marshalling
By embracing the use of task-specific automation, manual processes can be negated, enabling labour costs to be reduced or repurposed onto value-adding activity.
How we made it happen
- Workshops, interviews and site visits with key operational staff
- Assessed the site’s limitations of labour and storage, production and distribution space
- Analysed scenarios where chilled products were stored and distributed offsite
- Conducted time and motion studies into the operation for modelling and automation
- Reviewed warehouse layout to understand if further efficiencies could be gained through alterations
