Designing a warehouse fit for future growth.
As a leading wine distributor prepared to invest in a new warehouse, it wanted an independent view before committing to its preferred site.
As well as understanding whether the building was big enough, the business needed clarity on whether it could support future growth, operate efficiently and justify the investment.
Visku reviewed the plans, challenged the assumptions and provided the insight needed to make a confident decision.
The impact in action
Selected a different warehouse site better suited to future growth and operational performance
Delivered scenario-based recommendations to support investment decisions
Future-proofed warehouse capacity against projected demand
Reduced project risk by validating operating assumptions before implementation
“Warehouse projects only deliver value when the building, operation and future demand all work together. By testing the assumptions before investment, we helped the customer make a more informed decision and avoid creating future operational constraints.”
How we made it happen
- Independent Warehouse Review: We reviewed the proposed warehouse design, operating model and supporting business case, assessing whether the planned operation would meet both current and future business requirements.
- Data-Led Capacity Assessment: Inbound and outbound data was analysed to understand seasonal demand, order profiles and material flows. This allowed us to test capacity under different growth scenarios rather than relying on headline storage figures alone.
- Scenario Modelling: Using operational modelling, we developed alternative warehouse layouts and operating scenarios, highlighting where productivity, flexibility and cost could be improved as demand increased.
- Supporting Better Investment Decisions: Our independent recommendations gave the client confidence to select a different site that offered stronger long-term operational performance and greater resilience for future expansion.
